Is it okay for a Christian to drink alcohol?

Updated: Jul 22

The secular world views drinking as a fun time to socialize with friends, to relax after a long day, etc. Alcohol is advertised to people regularly and the people drinking it in commercials always seem to be having a great time. Regardless of what the world thinks about drinking, as Christians, we are to go to the Bible for our instruction on how to live our lives. Scripture has much to say regarding the drinking of alcohol However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. The Bible sometimes portrays alcohol as something good and enjoyable.

Psalms 104:14-15

He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,

And vegetation for the service of man,

That he may bring forth food from the earth,

15 And wine that makes glad the heart of man,

Oil to make his face shine,

And bread which strengthens man’s heart.
